Thomas Müller: What will Bayern Munich do with their misfiring club legend?

Thomas Müller has visibly struggled with fitness and production this season. The big question, however, is what will Bayern do with the club legend?

Earlier this week, my colleague Stefan Bienkowski asked in his newsletter how Borussia Dortmund will handle their aging star, Marco Reus. Around 300km south, Bayern Munich might soon have a similar debate regarding club legend Thomas Müller. 

There is some indication that that debate is already very much underway among the decision-makers at the Säbener Straße. Müller, who also failed to make an impact for Germany at the World Cup, has scored just three goals and six assists in 17 games for Bayern this season. 

Furthermore, after the World Cup restart, Müller only came off the bench in Bayern’s 1-1 draws against RB Leipzig and Köln. Not surprisingly, Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann tried to downplay the issue in the press conference ahead of the Köln game.
