Will Timo Werner and Anthony Modeste fix RB Leipzig and Dortmund's problems?
Bayern Munich's main rivals both signed forwards this week - but will either of them move the dial at all?
The first matchday of the new Bundesliga season revealed a number of things, but perhaps none more so than the fact that both Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig desperately need new strikers.
Dortmund huffed and puffed against a very impressive Bayer Leverkusen side and although they managed to steal all three points from a well-contested match, Edin Terzic’s side spent much of the game deep in their own half, puzzled as to why each pass into the opponent's end came right back with even more ferocity and purpose.
Their Saxony rivals had the complete opposite problem. Domenico Tedesco’s side dominated possession against Stuttgart and played much of the game in the opponent’s half, but aside from the right foot of Christopher Nkunku, they were seemingly incapable of putting the ball in the back of the net.
Alas, the two clubs tasked with putting up a fight against Bayern Munich this season have now acted accordingly to fix the aforementioned problems with a few new faces. Dortmund have signed Köln striker Anthony Modeste and Leipzig have welcomed home former star Timo Werner. But will either striker fix the problems that are already troubling both sides?
