It was the biggest transfer of the winter window. Eintracht Frankfurt sold Omar Marmoush to Manchester City for €75 million plus €5m in add-ons. The Eagles then signed Michy Batshuayi from Galatasaray for €3m and Elye Wahi from Olympique Marseille for €26m. Both are strikers, but neither is the genuine Marmoush replacement. That role will ultimately fall to one of the most fascinating talents in German football: Can Uzun.

At first glance, it might be counterintuitive to suggest that Uzun is the player who will replace Marmoush. Although both are best as secondary strikers, Uzun is more of a playmaker than a fast winger. The best comparable for Uzun is his teammate, Mario Götze. While nowadays he is more of a no.8, there was a time when Götze was considered a classic no.10 and, at times, even played as a false-9.
