Why Bayern Munich should move heaven and earth to sign Omar Marmoush
Omar Marmoush has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich and here is why the Rekordmeister should do everything in their power to sign the Eintracht Frankfurt star.
Earlier this year, my colleague Stefan Bienkowski had tipped Omar Marmoush as a potential breakout star in the Bundesliga, and the 25-year-old Egyptian has met the hype. The Eintracht Frankfurt star is second only to Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane (11 goals) with ten goals in nine Bundesliga games. The two are also in lockstep regarding goals scored per minute, with Kane having netted every 68 minutes this Bundesliga season and Marmoush every 75 minutes.
There is more. According to Wyscout, Marmoush also leads the Bundesliga with 9.77 expected Goals and Assists (xGA), which is considerably ahead of Kane (9.04). Furthermore, Marmoush is third in the Bundesliga with 33 shots on goal behind Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface (37) and Kane (34). Marmoush is also third in the league behind only Stuttgart’s Jamie Leweling (71) and Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens (58) with 55 one-v-one dribbles this season. Finally, no player suffered more fouls than the Egyptian (31) in the Bundesliga this season.
It didn’t come as a surprise then that Marmoush was linked with a move to Bayern Munich this week. According to a report by Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Bayern director of sport Max Eberl is a big fan of the Egyptian forward. Plettenberg added in his report that while there is no agreement in place, there have been some informal talks between all parties. Finally, the report said that Frankfurt want in the region of €50-60m for the Egyptian forward.
