Werder Bremen star Niclas Füllkrug has changed agencies - What does that mean?
Niclas Füllkrug has moved agencies from Think Forward to ROOF. Does that mean a move away from Werder is imminent? Well it definitely means something!
Niclas Füllkrug changing his agent does not seem like a big deal, right? Not exactly. “Let me tell you, a player changing an agent always means something,” an industry insider, who asked to remain anonymous, told Gegenpressing.“It means a player is either not happy or he has an interest in trying something new. It also can means that he wants to sign a new and better contract. Either way, an agent change by a player is always significant.”
One just has to glance briefly at the headlines right after Füllkrug switched from Think Forward to ROOF—the same agency that also has Bayern Munich stars Serge Gnabry and Sadio Mané under contract—to confirm the statement by the industry insider.
“Füllkrug surprisingly switches agencies – what are the reasons?” Sport 1 asked. “Because of Werder transfer? Niclas Füllkrug leaves agent!” was the headline in the Kreiszeitung. “Füllkrug switches agencies – [Werder head coach] Werner discusses the worst case,” was the title in kicker and Transfermarkt wrote: “Füllkrug changes agents: ‘I am of course looking around to see where do I have the best chance to play a second half of the season.”’
You get the idea. The most straightforward conclusion from the agency change would be that there was more to the Bayern rumors during the World Cup. After all, ROOF has a close relationship with Bayern director of sport Hasan Salihamidzic. But ROOF also has strong connections in the Premier League and Füllkrug is the type of striker that would do well in England.
