Nick Woltemade won't join Bayern Munich this summer. But that won't stop Woltemade from dominating the headlines in German football.
In the last few weeks and months, no other player in Germany has dominated the headlines more than Nick Woltemade, even before the never-ending transfer saga between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich. At least that transfer saga has now been put to bed. “We have informed all parties that Nick will stay with us,” Stuttgart's director of sport told the media after the Franz-Beckenbauer-Supercup on Saturday.
Stuttgart lost that game 2-1 to Bayern Munich. But ultimately, they managed to hold off the Rekordmeister for one season at least to sign their prized asset from under their noses. That certainly took conviction. But Stuttgart drew a hard line in the negotiations, and with Bayern failing to meet their €70 million plus add-ons demand on Friday ahead of the Supercup matchup, the deal is dead for now.
