The big Bayern Munich Q&A Mailbag: Potential Müller destination, Williams alternatives, what is going on with Wanner and more!
The monthly Bayern Munich Q&A mailbag is back. I try to make sense of all the noise coming from the Säbener Straße and the FIFA Club World Cup.
After beating Auckland City FC 10-0 to open the FIFA Club World Cup in Cincinnati, Bayern Munich will next face Boca Juniors at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The start with a hat-trick by Jamal Musiala was historic. It was the biggest-ever win by any club at the Club World Cup, including the old format, and Bayern’s fifth biggest win in club history.
It is difficult to judge where Bayern are at after their dominant performance over a semi-professional team from New Zealand. The games against Boca and Benfica will provide a much better understanding of where this current squad is at.
Indeed, the Bayern bosses will pay close attention to what is happening in the United States. With Leroy Sané leaving mid-tournament and only Tom Bischof and Jonathan Tah signed, the team is surrounded by numerous transfer rumors. Vincent Kompany’s team feels like it is in a bit of a weird transition moment between the end of last season and the start of the new season.
With all that in mind, what is really going on at Bayern Munich? Who are Bayern targeting this summer? What does the squad planning look like this summer? We try to answer this and much more in our monthly Bayern Munich Q&A. Enjoy!
