It was a Topspiel of two halves between third-placed Stuttgart and first-placed Bayer Leverkusen in front of 54,500 spectators at the still-under-construction MHP Arena. Although it was a furious start, it took until almost halftime for Stuttgart to take the lead thanks to a tap-in by Chris Führich (40’). Leverkusen then struck back just after halftime when Florian Wirtz scored to make it 1-1 (47’). Leverkusen then dominated the second half, but as was the case one week ago against Borussia Dortmund, Leverkusen couldn’t find a winner. Here are three thoughts from the Topspiel between Stuttgart and Leverkusen.
