With some exceptions, the crowds at international tournaments are very different from those found week in and week out in domestic club football, as is the fan culture surrounding the participating teams. Nevertheless, there was no shortage of talking points on the terraces at Euro 2024 in Germany, the first tournament genuinely accessible to European fans since Euro 2016 in France. From tickets, prices, and allocations to controversial political symbolism to signs that some national team fan groups are beginning to incorporate elements of ultra culture from club football, we analyse some of the most notable issues off the pitch in Germany this summer.
