On the terraces: DFL investor protests intensify, St. Pauli ultras lead anti-AfD march and happy birthday Werder Bremen
In a new weekly Newsletter, Matt Ford will be keeping an eye on the action off the pitch in the Bundesliga and German football, from fan protests to finances.
Protests against the DFL's planned investor deal are not going away. Rather, they reached a new level this weekend, not only resulting in a half-hour delay in Berlin but also leading to heated discussions in the German football media. Meanwhile, St. Pauli ultras organised a demonstration in Hamburg against the far-right, while Werder Bremen fans celebrated their club’s birthday away at Mainz. But the topic of investors is likely to become even more pertinent at the Weserstadion.
This is Matt Ford’s fourth “On the terraces” newsletter. The first newsletter for Gegenpressing was made available for all subscribers three weeks ago, so readers can get a good idea of what he’ll be covering in German football this year. If you like what you see, please consider taking out a paid subscription.
