In a weekly Newsletter, Matt Ford keeps an eye on the action off the pitch in the Bundesliga and German football, explaining what’s going on from fan protests to finances.
Bayern Munich celebrated their 125th birthday last week with a series of celebratory events, a special anniversary kit, some fancy stadium lighting and the announcement of a legends' tournament later this month. Meanwhile, there are more fun and games on the supervisory boards at VfB Stuttgart and Hannover 96. After Porsche dismissed their finance director, questions have been raised as to his continued role at VfB, in which the car maker holds a 10.4% stake, while Hannover 96 are facing a race against time to finally appoint a chief executive and apply for a league license for next season.
Matt Ford's "On the terraces" newsletter will continue to appear every week throughout the 2024/25 Bundesliga season. Last season, the newsletter featured exclusive and in-depth coverage of the Bundesliga's private equity plans and the political intrigues at VfB Stuttgart, among other things.
