Köln smash Kaiserslautern to return to the Bundesliga - Three thoughts from Müngersdorf

After Hambuger SV, a second Traditionsverein has returned to the Bundesliga. On Sunday, 1. FC Köln secured promotion back to the German topflight thanks to a 4-0 win over Kaiserslautern. Eric Martel (14’), Luca Waldschmidt (29’), Florian Kainz (76’), and Mark Uth (82’) scored the goals in front of 50,000 spectators at a fully sold-out RheinEnergieStadion.
As HSV lost their game in Fürth, the result also meant that Köln have been crowned 2. Bundesliga Meister. Although that means a trophy, that particular honor will be somewhat secondary.
