A lot of things went right for Bayern Munich during their 3-1 win over Augsburg. For starters, the visitors essentially opened the scoring for their hosts 32 minutes into the game, when Felix Uduokhai’s own goal stumbled over the line to give Bayern the lead. Six minutes later Niklas Dorsch stuck his hand out to block a shot in the Augsburg box and gracefully offered Harry Kane the opportunity to score his first Bundesliga goal in the Allianz Arena from the penalty spot.
The England international did exactly that, then pounced again in the 69th minute when a drilled cross from Alphonso Davies found the outstretched toe of Kane. With the deftly touch of someone who could clearly score goals in his sleep, Bayern’s record signing tapped home a second. The home support went wild, the big wigs in the expensive seats nodded approvingly and all of a sudden everything seemed to be slotting into place for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Of course, that’s not entirely true. Tuchel still spent much of the pre and post-match interviews complaining about the club not signing him a No.6, while Dayot Upamecano and Sven Ulreich continued to look far from composed in defence. It was also an extremely boring game of football, for the most part. But overall, it certainly felt like Bayern were beginning to look more like a Tuchel side. And no player perhaps encapsulated that more than winger, goalscorer and all round Säbener Straße handy-man Kingsley Coman.
