After losing the Europa League final to Atalanta, Leverkusen have secured the double with a 1-0 win over Kaiserslautern. But off the pitch the Lautern fans dominated the headlines.

Bayer Leverkusen have won the 81st DFB Pokal final. After already securing the Bundesliga title, Die Werkself secured the German double in front of 74,332 fans at the Olympiastadion thanks to a single goal by Granit Xhaka (16’). It is Leverkusen’s second title in the competition after 1993 when they beat Hertha BSC Reserve (1-0).

The DFB Pokal title will undoubtedly go a long way to erase the disappointment of losing the Europa League final to Atalanta last week. But while Kaiserslautern fans will be disappointed that they lost the game, at least off the pitch, they dominated the German capital on the weekend.
