Introducing the Gegenpressing newsletter
After 250 podcast episodes, Manuel Veth and Stefan Bienkowski are getting into the newsletter game...
Ahead of the start of the new German football season, we’d like to take a brief moment to reveal our plans for how we’re hoping to expand our coverage of the Bundesliga and beyond going forward.
With the Gegenpressing podcast, we’ve constantly done our best to provide fans of German football with as much insight, news and analysis as we can and, to our eternal appreciation, listeners have not only stuck by us but seem to be growing by the week.
The heartfelt messages we get on Twitter, Instagram and even via email really do spur us on and it got us thinking about how we could improve the podcast and what we offer in terms of excellent content centred around German football. And today, after more than 250 episodes of the podcast under our belts, we’re happy to announce that we’ll be expanding into newsletters.
With this Substack page, we’ll be looking to provide written content in the form of a newsletter in your inbox every Tuesday and Thursday morning, as well as a bonus ad-free podcast every Wednesday morning. Susbcribers will also be able to access the main show every week without any ads too. We’ll also be using the page to run discussion threads whenever there’s big breaking news and we want to mull it over with our listeners.
Although there are some excellent football writers, commentators and pundits online with an undying passion for German football, we believe there is an opportunity to build a page that will prove the kind of in-depth content that, frankly, rarely makes its way into the biggest English-speaking newspapers and publications.
Whether it be Bayern Munich’s pre-season tours, interviews with Mainz head coaches, tactical breakdowns of Edin Terzic’s new team or a deep dive into Freiburg’s transfer market strategy, we hope we can offer die-hard fans of the Bundesliga something that rarely gets much attention online.
With your support and for as little as $5 per month, we’re hoping to expand our coverage of the Bundesliga whilst keeping up the same standards that listeners enjoy from the podcast each and every week. So what do you think?
