Introducing the Gegenpressing "Monday Bulletin"
Gegenpressing is launching a free newsletter for all subscribers that will provide a round up of all the biggest Bundesliga talking points from each match day.
Today we’re happy to announce that from next week onwards we’ll be releasing a free newsletter for all subscribers each and every Monday morning. This newsletter will be called the “Monday Bulletin” and we hope it proves to be as vital as the podcasts and newsletters we already provide for Bundesliga fans across the Substack network.
What is the Monday Bulletin?
According to the Oxford dictionary a bulletin is “a short official statement or broadcast summary of news” and that, unsurprisingly, sums up exactly what we’re hoping to achieve with this new newsletter.
Unlike our main newsletters every Tuesday and Thursday, which tend to take a deep dive into very specific topics, we wanted to offer something that provided a quick breakdown of the main talking points from the weekend’s action. Essentially, something for Bundesliga fans to scan to see what they may have missed from the previous matchday.
We’re also well aware of the fact that the newsletters and podcasts are often dominated by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund news - which is simply a natural part of covering German football for the English speaking world - but we hope this newsletter can shine a light on the topics that we would otherwise have little time to bring up and discuss elsewhere.
While the format isn’t set in stone, we’re hoping this newsletter will take the form of three or four talking points provided in short paragraphs and straight to the point. Again, this isn’t a fully-fledged newsletter on specific topics but instead a summary of the Bundesliga each and every week.
Why are we bringing out a free newsletter?
After one full year of running the Gegenpressing newsletters alongside the podcast, perhaps the most important lesson we’ve learned about covering the Bundesliga is that providing a platform for fans to discuss and debate topics amongst themselves is vital to building a long-term community.
As the internet continues to get bigger, darker and somewhat emptier, we’re proud of the fact that fans of German football from across the world can meet up and talk about each and every game in our forums every weekend.
As such, we’re hoping the comments section to this newsletter will prove to be a safe, entertaining and vital hangout spot for German football fans to meet up and discuss the talking points from the matchday each and every Monday.
