False dawn or new hope? Sevilla and Bayern results mask a frustratingly inconsistent start for Terzic's Dortmund
Edin Terzic looked like a man in his element after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich. With a wide grin from ear to ear, the Borussia Dortmund head coach was clearly far happier than his opposite number to salvage a point from an eventful game, proclaiming in his post-match interviews that his side had shown the “belief” to upset a team that had dominated German football for so long. This wasn’t just a coach that felt relieved. This was one that felt vindicated.
And so he should be. While “Der Klassiker” has struggled to live up to its name for some time now, Saturday’s contest was undoubtedly one of the most dramatic games of the season and a contest which saw Dortmund - finally - punch back. Horrendous refereeing decisions aside, the Westfalen side spent much of the first half looking like the more coherent team and the late assault on Manuel Neuer’s goal clearly underlined just how fragile Julian Nagelsmann’s side really are.
