What does a club legend look like? Well, in this case, he is wearing a stylish grey suit, with a black t-shirt, with perfectly styled black hair. No, this is not a fashion blog, but the observation of Kevin Trapp’s appearance speaks volumes. Confident in his appearance and with the ability to speak to a group of English journalists like it was his native language; there was almost something statesman-like to Trapp as he addressed us ahead of the NFL Frankfurt games.

But it wasn’t just his appearance or the intelligent answers he gave to us on topics ranging from Frankfurt’s Europa League run, that famous night in Barcelona, the club’s transfer policy or new head coach Dino Toppmöller, but also the sense that this was a person with great influence within the Frankfurt organization. Following the media roundtable, you could see Trapp discuss policies with a group of club officials; the goalkeeper isn’t just the captain on the pitch but, like Thomas Müller at Bayern Munich, also a club president in waiting.

You want one example? Here is what Trapp said about Frankfurt’s upcoming 2024 United States Tour. “Well, the club has a huge interest in the US market,” Trapp said. “We have been there several times in preseason, especially in the winter.” But here is where he sounds more like a club official rather than a goalkeeper. “We are going to go in the summer to the US again to have our preseason again,” Trapp added. “It is a very interesting market for us, and we have an office there in New York and a US sponsor in Indeed.”
