After Euro 2024 disappointment, Benjamin Sesko is ready to make the next step at RB Leipzig
Benjamin Sesko made a big decision to stay with RB Leipzig this season and after a disappointing Euros is now ready to make the next step in his development.
“No, no comment,” Benjamin Sesko said to Gegenpressing after the 1-1 draw against Serbia at the European Championship. Usually a talkative character, Sesko was visibly frustrated after Serbia had equalized with the game's final chance.
Slovenia ultimately advanced to the round of 16 in the tournament, where they lost on penalties against Portugal. Sesko had the biggest goal-scoring opportunity of the game when he went one-v-one against Portugal’s goalkeeper Diogo Costa but missed, and Slovenia were ultimately eliminated.
“He had one big chance in the round of 16 to decide the game,” Rose said to Gegenpressing after RB Leipzig’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, on Wednesday. “It is a situation we talk about a lot. He had a one-v-one with the goalkeeper, and he is fast enough to use his speed to go around the goalkeeper. And in the end he missed. It is something that we willl try to improve.”
The 21-year-old striker was deemed one of the prospects to watch ahead of the tournament and was already linked with a move to Arsenal. Sesko himself put an end to those rumors by committing to RB Leipzig.
