FC Augsburg have hired in-demand Sandro Wagner to become the club's next head coach. But what can we expect from the appointment? We break it all down.
It was a tumultuous ending to FC Augsburg’s season. The Fuggerstädter fired both head coach Jess Thorup and sporting director Marinko Jurendić. While it remains to be seen who will replace Jurendić, Augsburg have now appointed Sandro Wagner as the club’s next head coach. The former Bayern Munich striker has signed a contract until 2028.
How did we get there? “Following an intense decision-making process and open and honest discussion, we have decided to make a change in our head coach in the interests of continuing the development and direction of our club,” Augsburg chief executive Michael Ströll said.
