Could Florian Wirtz reject Bayern Munich and stay in Leverkusen?

It is the same procedure every international break. With nothing to report about while players are with their respective national teams, the German media will focus on player X joining Bayern Munich. Although accentuated by social media, this ritual predates the modern era, and this window was no different as Sky, Bild, and Co. fired up the Florian Wirtz to Bayern Munich rumor mill.

At a recent Sky roundtable with Loris Karius, Fredi Bobic, and Roman Weidenfeller, all three protagonists answered that Wirtz was headed to Bayern next summer. Former Frankfurt boss Bobic went even further. “There have already been talks, and the board is already preparing everything for Wirtz to end up in Munich,” Bobic said.
